Nature Therapy
“Nature. Cheaper than therapy.” Anonymous
For those who have been hiking in nature understand the sense of peace it provides you with. For those who have not had this privilege I strongly encourage you to spend a little time outdoors in the forest. This is not just a personal opinion, it has been validated by researchers that being in nature improves your mood, reduces stress and anxiety, improves your attention and focus. It can also lower your risk of psychiatric disorders and increase your cooperation and empathy. One of the biggest perks of this, is it is FREE.
Taking a walk in nature and admiring the beauty of our planet is a wonderful mindfulness exercise. Just noticing the varying shades of green with the different plants
against the brown earth and the blue sky. The stillness of nature re-centers your thoughts and boosts your mood. You don’t even have to spend hours a day outside. Studies have shown that 2 recreational hours outside boost people’s mood and well-being. Just two hours spread over seven days! That is not much time at all. I am sure we spend more time than that looking for something half-way decent to watch on TV. If you need a little more convincing just check out this article.
